December 1st

Today is the first day of the last month of the year. I like first days because there is such a hope and possibility attached to them. I had my regular doctor's appointment today and all my numbers were good except for my weight. It is the highest it has ever been. I am going to surprise him when I go in March for the next appointment. I will start eating healthier and exercising more. It is crucial for my self-esteem and my health.

Heidi was home for the weekend. Unfortunately she was ill for 3.5 of the 5 days she was home. She did not even feel like decorating the tree and she has been looking forward to that for a long time.
Hopefully, the next 3 weeks will go by fast for her and she can have some fun on the Christmas break.

Her cat, Mango, has become my little orange shadow again. He follows me around and cries a lot during the day. He likes to be in the same room as I am and needs a lot of attention. We call him AAD affective attention disorder.

I picked up my 100 CTMH page protectors from Jolene today and had lunch with her at McDonalds in Ada. I then tried to get to a grocery store from there but as usual got lost and had to use the GPS. It took me for a beautiful ride along the Thornapple River--and I finally found a store. I bought all the ingredients for lasagna-something I haven't made for a long time. I think I did the layers wrong though because I had too much cheese filling and noodles left and no meat sauce. Oh well, it will feed us for a couple of future meals.

Apparently we have one more decent day before the snow comes. Tonight's forecast was for
snow the next seven days. Yuky Yuki.

I am going to do some Christmas journaling now for a project I am working on in December-a sort of memories and inspirational journal.

See you tomorrow.

Prettifying the blog

It wasn't so hard. Thanks to generous bloggers who can actually design and format these add-ons and freely share them with of us who are techologically and artistically challenged. I really like my new look and hope that you do too.

Public or Private

Since I have started this blog, I have kept it private. I have done this because I still am not sure if I feel comfortable sharing my thoughts with the internet world. I love reading other people's blogs, I am signed up for over 100 of them on Google Reader. Reading about other people's crafts, struggles, triumphs and lives sometimes makes me feel less alone and isolated.

I would like to have some internet friends though and maybe a blog would help. Would I get any readers, would anyone care about what I write--I just don't know. Maybe I should just take a leap of faith and try it. I will give myself to the end of Shimelle's class and make a decision. Maybe I could just start with the Holidays at Hand class that Jessica Sprague is holding. What do you think?
Should I go for it?

Overwhelmed in a good way

The holiday season is coming up and though we really have a low key time around our house there is still some stress. But not really, we only have one child who will be 19 by then and no other family gifts to buy or cookies to bake or meals to make or entertaining to do. So why do I feel overwhelmed. It's my obsession with learning new things about scrapbooking and making my pages better. I have signed up for so many on-line classes this year and have not finished one of them yet. I still want to finish them but which one first. Unfortunately, I am also a procrastinator.
I can get so easily distracted by this lovely computer, that I don't get busy doing more creative things. My resolution for the upcoming year is not to take another class until I complete the ones I have. It is crazy to keep stockpiling PDF files and filling 3 ring notebooks with them and never use them. Every Friday I will post a progress report. Wish me luck!

Why I want to blog

I have wanted to learn about blogging for some time. I am interested in keeping up with current trends and technologies and I am interested in having somewhere to store daily thoughts and ideas. I am not sure that I will share this as of yet. Shimelle's instructions and classes are very well done and I always enjoy being in them.
I'm taking an online scrapbooking class for bloggers so I hope my blog will be good reading this month.
